EastEnders spoilers: Is Mel Owen star Tamzin Outhwaite LEAVING show following E20’s theft?

EASTENDERS star Tamzin Outhwaite plays Mel Owen, but could a brutal robbery storyline on the could the BBC soap see her exit just months after her grand return?

Albert Square favourite Mel returned to EastEnders earlier on this year after her exit in 2002.

The feisty character made her mark once again, after her return, by getting involved with gangster Aidan Maguire (Patrick Bergin). But it looks likely she is set to leave the show next week – could it be forever?

The shock exit will come after the reveal that the E20 club is down £15,000.

With the assumption that the money has been stolen from the club, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) begin looking for someone to accuse.

The boisterous pair begin honing in on Hunter Owen (Charlie Winter), and eventually accuse him of the theft.

Refusing to believe the claims, Mel vehemently defends her son, telling Jack and Phil they need to look elsewhere.

But Mel becomes doubtful and becomes unsure about what to believe, so she decides to pay Louise Mitchell (Dominic Treadwell-Collins) a visit to get her side of the story.

Louise reveals everything about the pair’s split, and becomes worried about the growing situation.

In up-coming scenes Mel will be making a last attempt to save her job by threatening phil.

She begins blackmailing him over the kiss they shared, and threatens to reveal all to Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean).

But the pressure from constantly lying becomes too much for Mel, causing her to begin packing her bags for a secret exit.

As Jack catches wind of this desertion, he takes another look at the stolen-money mystery – and becomes aware of Mo (Laila Morse) hiding something.

Jack then spots the Slater pulling a bag out of her bin, which he demands to see the inside of.

However when Jack looks inside all he finds is a collection of tissues, shocking both of them.

But as Jack presses Mo even more on the matter she reveals who truly stole the money from the club.

But was Hunter involved in the theft with the Slaters?

Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) recently made a return to the show, and could have been responsible for the theft whilst in a tight spot with money.

Otherwise, this robbery could be the beginning of Aidan’s revenge, who is still at large after his fight with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer).

After having his money stolen earlier on in the year, Aidan could certainly be looking for another way in to build his empire in the Square – could bankrupting the club and taking it over be his plan?
